OEE – overall equipment effectiveness

The Overall equipment effectiveness is the primary indicator for comparing the performance of production.

OEE is designed to identify a problematic areas when the production lags in compared with standardized times. Monitoring of utilization and equipment effectiveness in MES PHARIS® is an effective tool for finding the critical bottlenecks in the production and predictively helps react and solve the potential capacity problem. When the bottlenecks are early detected the management is predictively able to react and solve the capacity problem and overloading of equipment in advance, on the other hand MES PHARIS® highlights on untapped, thus operationally economically expensive equipment.

OEE (Overall equipment effectiveness) is already from the definition a composite indicator:
  • It consists of the evaluation of quality (Quality - the proportion of the conforming products of the total number of units produced),
  • performance (Performance - the proportion of produced units compared with normalized time and the time of production),
  • usage (usage - the time when the production ran in comparison with the period of downtime).
In MES PHARIS® is also indicator of Loading (Loading - the proportion of planned production time for an available time in a given period). Together we can talk about a TEEP indicator (Total Effective Equipment Productivity), which compares the total real performance (the number of same produced units) with a theoretical maximum (under the condition that we produce continuously according to the standards and all units are conformities).

OEE – Timeline

Timeline is one of the most important tools that demonstrably helps to increase OEE.

It is a graphical form for transparency of the production state. This function compares the real state of the running machine with a discipline of the operators and setters. It effectively displays inconsistency between the machine operation and manually entered information via production terminal.

The system allows for a user-selected group of machines graphically display on a dynamic timeline with two line for each machine.
  • Line of the machine operation - real cycles automatically scanned by the machine,
  • production line - machine states, events (production, downtime, setting,...), downtimes, operator, deflections, checking, work order, operation, plan etc.
Timeline is support for:
  • A significant refinement of the reporting,
  • warning that the machine operation is without the operator registration on manufacturing operation,
  • a tool for technologists - standardization, refinement of the production preparation, the basis for determining of coefficient of multi-machine service, comparing of cycle times and time of exchange, etc.,
  • timeline is also a graphical presentation of the performed control steps - individual, or concurrent with the production,
  • forces setters to register to the manufacturing operation,

BGE - Genealogy of orders

A genealogy tracking of orders in MES PHARIS® has a particular importance mostly for customers, whose products consist of several sequentially individually manufactured semi-finished or intermediate product. Then system can retrospectively store and provide information about which raw materials were used for the production for the semi-finished product and which semi-finished products were used for the production of the final product. The accuracy of this identification is in various implementations different - identification of the packing unit, unique part identification etc. There is an obviousness that these identified semi-products offer all available information such as the names of operators, time and conditions of production, version of the product definition and value of production parameters. The significance of this evidence is reflected in combination with unique identification of products.

Staff monitoring – performance, quality, downtimes

Staff monitoring plays an important role in improving the efficiency of manufacturing process. PHARIS® offers a comparison of performance of individual staffs according the proportion of production time compared to downtimes. System also pursues to the ratio of various types of downtime, quality of confirmed work or work in a deviation mode.

Evaluation of machine cycles

System PHARIS® records and stores data for each cycle of each production equipment. Based on this information is possible these cycle statistically evaluate and display. Among the basic variants belong the number of cycles, the median time cycle, maximum and minimum cycle time. All the evaluations are performed on a user´s filtered data set so it is possible to compare data from different machines, with different tools, at different times or different shift.

MES PHARIS® has an integrated application for the creating of reports by users. MES PHARIS® offers standard set of the most used reports, but also the possibility of user defined reports.
Among the main advantages of creation of reports in MES PHARIS® belongs:
  • Users can create their own reports,
  • there is possibility to change the content and the look of the reports according to the needs of the customer,
  • prearranged reports can be available to selected users of MES PHARIS®,
  • the possibility of setting the regular sending of the reports to the mailbox,
  • combination of technological and production data,
  • authorized users have a direct access to MES PHARIS® database - usually they are IT staffs for preparation of required data structures,
  • the possibility of direct displaying the SQL query directly over each parts of MES PHARIS®.
